Member of Parliament for Tano South, Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, has called on other contestants in the upcoming NPP primaries to support him rather since he would emerge as the winner.
He explained that despite his short tenure in office he had been able to deliver as expected with the numerous projects completed in the constituency and the ongoing rehabilitation works on roads.
It is a sheer waste of time and resources for anyone to decide to contest me in the primaries, he said and urged them to rather support him since he would remain the NPP parliamentary candidate to contest for the parliamentary seat of the constituency.
The MP stated that ‘’the NDC does not have anyone who can contest him and that is why they are bringing back Hannah Bisiw to contest but all the same the NDC will not get the nod’’.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has planned to hold Parliamentary primaries in areas where it has sitting Members of Parliament (MP) on April 25, 2020.
The NPP has I69 sitting Members of Parliament out of the total 275 seats in Parliament.
The party has already elected more than 95 Parliamentary candidates who would be contesting on its ticket in orphan constituencies [areas the party does not have sitting MPs].
The same April 25, 2020 date would also be used to elect a flagbearer for the party for Election 2020.
Nomination fees for the aspiring MPs have been pegged at GH¢2000 and GH¢20,000 for filing fees whilst that of the presidential aspirants has been pegged at GH¢20,000 as nomination fee and GH¢200,000 as the filing fee.
