The Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kwame Bafoe known in the political arena as Abronye DC, has denied that he is gunning for a parliamentary seat in the region.
He explained that although his ambition to serve the people especially his constituency remains resolute, he has no interest in contesting for the Sunyani West constituency seat as alleged by some constituents.
In an interview on Ark in the Morning Abronye DC told Kwabena Obeng Akrofi, that the lack of the average Ghanaian to understand the responsibilities of a Member of Parliament derails his interest in such a contest.
“Until voters understand the basic responsibilities of an MP as a lawmaker, I am not interested to contest as an MP, even though I have all it takes to lead my people”, he said.
The vociferous NPP Chairman has, in the wake of the disqualification of an aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for Sunyani West Bernard Oduro Takyi from the race, been accused of ambition to grab the seat after the incumbent Ignatius Baffour Awuah bows out.
“You all know I am the type who fears any contest. My records are there to speak for me. So why will I sabotage the efforts of someone or a candidate just for my favour?” he quizzed.
Mr Bafoe called on aggrieved party members who have vowed to vote skirt and blouse in the upcoming general election following the disqualification of their aspirants to rescind their decision to ensure the accelerated development of their constituencies.
“Even though MPs are not to provide projects, they can lobby for roads, schools and other projects, most especially when their government is in power, So if you are an NPP member and you decide to vote against your parliamentary candidate you do so to the detriment of your constituency”, he stated.
