Freedom Movement supports Chief Imam with food items


The Freedom Movement, a philanthropic group, has donated quantities of food items valued GH30, 000 and an undisclosed amount of money to the National Chief Imam towards the Eid-Al-Fitr celebration.

The items included 30 bags of rice, 30 gallons of liquid soap, 30 gallons of oil and many others.

It was part of the movement’s effort to alleviate the plight of some residence in the Muslim communities particularly, the vulnerable whose situation has become intense as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.


The President of the movement, Nana Kwame Bediako said the gesture formed part of the group’s core vision and mission to bring smiles to the faces of the people.

He noted that the month-long fasting by the Muslims had been observed at a time when the country was in a very critical moment.

He therefore expressed optimism that the Allah was going to listen to their prayers and mitigate burden which the country had been confronted with.

“It’s a privilege to be welcomed here by the Chief Imam and I am trivially excited about this moment. I’m basically here to show my appreciation to you for embarking on this fasting to pray for the country and the world as a whole and I have hope that in a very short time this pandemic will be over,” Nana Bediako said.

Peaceful leader

He went to commend the Chief Imam for his great leadership skills which had contributed immensely to preserving peace in the country.

“I have followed this man for several years and I’ve notice that for so many years, he has escaped violence and replaced it with hope. He has canceled the fear that is supposed to leave amongst us and he has replaced that with faith,” he stated.

He assured that the movement was not going to relent in its effort to support the Muslim community in the country to ensure massive development in those areas.

He urged the leadership not to hesitate to call on them anytime they needed their support.


Receiving the items, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu expressed his gratitude to the movement and assured them of his continuous supplication.
He said the gesture was going to help mitigate the hardships the community had been confronted with as a result of the pandemic.
