Emel Foundation has donated some learning materials to Wiasekrom D/A basic school at Nsawkaw in Tain District of Bono region. The items include exercise books, pens and pencils, sharpeners, liquid soaps and two sets of jumbo towels.
The donation was part of activities to mark the 30th birthday of Emelia Hagar Essel, Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, to show her commitment to education and welfare of the younger generation.
Speaking with the press, she said the gesture was an inspiration from whjat the community gave her during her university days and had found it expedient to offer the little help to the younger ones in the community.
Mr. Hanku, assistant head teacher, expressed gratitude to the Foundation and gave assurance the school’s management would ensure the prudent use of the items. He noted with regret that “90% of the pupils don’t have tables and thus lie on the bare floor to write” and called on other philanthropies and the Government to come to their aid.
