The 27-year-old hairdresser who stabbed his boyfriend to death has been remanded two week into police custody by the Sunyani District court “B” presided over by His Honor Jojo Amoah Hagan.
Police at Abesim in Sunyani Municipality arrested Hilda Asumani, a 27 year old hairdresser, for allegedly stabbing to death her boyfriend, Prince Yaw Aboagye, a 30 year old Heavy duty machine mechanic of Oti Yeboah Sawmill in Abesim after a complainant Akwasi Acheampong lodged a complaint to the police over the incident.
The deceased and the accused according to some tenants who spoke to Ark News were lovers who lived together at the Oti Yeboah quarters in Abesim.
The deceased who suffered multiple wounds on his neck and left chin is said to have been in a relationship with the suspect for about six years and had atwo (2) year old child.
The tenants revealed that, the two had engaged in series of unprovoked quarrels for some time but found the deceased who was popularly called ‘engineer’ dead in his room on Tuesday morning June 7.
Narrating what led to the unfortunate situation, a resident who pleaded anonymity said Hilda and the boyfriend had a misunderstanding last Sunday as the former suspected Prince of having an affair with another woman.
Hilda seized Prince’s phone later and that led to a squabble which was later resolved but she refused to give him back his phone. A police source also narrated,the two lovebirds engaged in another tangle after Yaw denied the suspect to take part in a grass cutter meal he was enjoying in the evening.
Hilda a mother of two allegedly stabbed her lover four times on the neck and chin and sensing danger, she tried to stop the blood that oozed from the wounds with a bedspread but the deceased was later found lying lifeless in front of their room in a pool of blood.
The body has since been deposited at the Bono Regional Hospital for preservation while the suspect is assisting the police in investigations.
At the court, Prosecutor Sergeant Agyenim Boateng told the court the suspect only defended herself in the midst of a heated argument between the two lovers which led to the death of the deceased. He pleaded the court to grant the police time to complete their investigation.
His plea was considered and His honor Jojo Hagan adjourned the case to June 24 and remanded the accused two weeks into police custody.
The accused Hilda AsomaniEmbo has since been charged with murder while she wait the next hearing on June 24.
A family member of the deceased, Eric Marfo who spoke to Ark News after the court sitting said they were only informed their brother was dead but got to know the cause of his death when they arrive at Abesim from AkyimSwedro in the Eastern Region where the deceased hails from. He said the family is hopeful the laws of the land will serve their deceased brother justice.
